Public history enables human beings to establish the form of historiography, or the writing of history, and understand the meaning of contemporary. Besides writing, other mediums for recording public life and history are equally important, and music is one of them. With music, people can express their emotions, feelings, and experiences that resonate with others. In recent years, many active music producers and music festivals have been concerned with the voice of the Taiwanese people and the history of the land of Taiwan. Music or music festivals can not only bring history and culture to life but bring energy to the public.

Panel Discussion II

To Build Our Own Museum

Date|Friday, October 28, 2022
Time|11:10-12:10
Location|International Conference Hall(venueA)

As a place to conserve and preserve history, cultural relics, and memories, as well as a space for dialogue and the exchange of ideas, museums play a critical role in the progression of Taiwan’s civil society. For the management and the improvement of museums, the Ministry of Culture launched various museum projects and programs. Lately, local communities have also been initiating museums or seeking funding from the government for museums. Museums started by local communities reflect that locals are aware of the history, culture, and memories of the communities and recognize the importance of their preservation and promotion.
